The “Master of Suspense” was born on this day in 1899. Born in Leytonstone, Essex, England, he became a celebrated film director creating many films that received British and American film awards.
In 2012, the British Film Institute announced that Hitchcock’s 1941 psychological thriller, Vertigo was the greatest film ever made. Hitchcock’s personal favorite was his 1943 film, Shadow of a Doubt.
Hitchcock directed over 50 major films which received 46 Oscar nominations. Which of his films is your favorite? Rear Window is mine.

I wasn’t a big fan of Hitchcock till the pandemic. I ended up watching a lot of his movies and really loved them. He was a brilliant man. Really liked the haiku too, lovely tribute to his legacy.

Thank you, Pooja. Hitchcock also worked with many well-known actors which can make the viewing easier; even if you spill some popcorn when caught by surprise. 🙂

Love Hitchcock! Took a film class dedicated to his films in college. Rear Window is one of my favorites. But Rope was his most cleverly unique, as it was shot in one continuous reel. When the reel was about to run out, they used props in the scene to fade out in a way that you would only know they did that when watching the movie.

Thank you, Ari. Yes, film class in college brings back great memories and learning about subliminal messaging in advertising.
